Deed of Settlement initialled with Rongowhakaata in historic whare
The Crown today initialled a Deed of Settlement for all historical Treaty claims with Rongowhakaata, one of the three Turanga iwi, Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations Minister Christopher Finlayson announced. Initialling signals the end of substantive negotiations.

Crown suspends negotiations with Tainui Taranaki
The Crown has suspended negotiations with Tainui Taranaki ki te Tonga because of legal proceedings brought by the Wakatu Incorporation, which is a party to the negotiations. Wakatu Incorporation is seeking remedies through the courts that would duplicate the redress being negotiated by Tainui Taranaki.
